Ka-Bar US Army Fighting Knife - Straight Edge

The Ka-Bar 1220 U.S. Army Fighting Knife is the legendary American combat blade marked for U.S. Army personnel. It pairs a 7-inch 1095 Cro-Van straight-edge clip-point blade with the classic stacked leather washer handle, steel guard, and pinned pommel that built the Ka-Bar reputation across Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. The included leather belt sheath carries the matching U.S. Army stamp. Built in Olean, New York, this is a workhorse fixed blade for soldiers, hunters, collectors, and anyone who wants a true-to-pattern fighting/utility knife with Army heritage.

Description

Features

  1. 7-Inch 1095 Cro-Van Blade — High-carbon 1095 Cro-Van steel hardened to 56–58 HRC delivers a tough edge that holds up to hard field use and sharpens easily.
  2. Straight Plain Edge — Full plain edge gives you clean, controlled cuts for utility tasks, fieldcraft, and combat-style work without sawtooth drag.
  3. Clip-Point Profile — Classic clip-point geometry provides a strong piercing tip and a long belly for slicing, skinning, and general utility duty.
  4. Stacked Leather Washer Handle — Traditional stacked leather handle gives a warm, secure grip that breaks in over time and absorbs shock during heavy chopping or prying.
  5. U.S. Army Tang Stamp — Authentic U.S. Army marking on the blade tang honors the knife's service heritage and distinguishes it from standard USMC-marked Ka-Bars.
  6. Steel Guard and Pommel — Powder-coated steel crossguard and pinned pommel anchor the handle and let the knife take a beating without coming apart.
  7. U.S. Army Leather Sheath — Includes a matching leather belt sheath stamped with the U.S. Army logo for traditional carry.
  8. 11.875-Inch Overall Length — Full-size fighting/utility dimensions give you the reach and leverage of the original WWII-pattern Ka-Bar.
  9. Made in the USA — Manufactured in Olean, New York by Ka-Bar Knives, Inc., the same maker that has supplied American servicemen since 1942.

Look, i've got a few Ka-Bars at this point the USMC 1217, the black Kraton-handled version, and now the 1220 Army straight edge and honestly the differences between them are mostly cosmetic (the U.S. ARMY stamp vs USMC stamp, the tan leather handle vs the darker one), but each one scratches a different collector itch. The 1095 Cro-Van steel on this thing is exactly what it should be: takes a wicked edge once you get past the slightly rough factory grind... and yes, it does come a bit rough out of the box, that's a known thing with Ka-Bar. Twenty minutes on a fine stone and a strop and you've got something genuinely impressive. The stacked leather handle has that classic look and smell (well, maybe not everyone loves the smell lol) and it fits the hand perfectly for extended use. I did compare this seriously to the Ontario SP-1 Spec Plus before buying the Ontario is cheaper and the injection-molded handle is arguably more weather-resistant but it just doesn't have the heritage, the aesthetics, or the Olean, NY craftsmanship that Ka-Bar brings. Made in the USA, stamped proud, exactly what i wanted.

Factory edge is rough and needs touching up before first use,

Have always wanted the Army version of a Ka-Bar and finally got one. Beautiful knife. I'm not a knife guy but like I said, always wanted one. Really liked the pamphlet included which told the history of Ka-Bar. Seems to be a very high quality knife and is very sharp. Happy with my purchase and with Keep Shooting. Quick delivery and well packaged. Have purchased from them in the past and like this purchase everything was as described, well packaged and shipped quickly. So IMHO Keep Shooting is good to go.
