The Lightweight Wire Saw by BCB International is a stainless steel wire saw from the United Kingdom. Made from tightly woven 8 wire stainless steel, this saw is lightweight, versatile, robust and strong. Easily cut wood and plastic and can be fashioned into a bow saw for rapid use.
Ok it is quite lightweight, that's good for packing purposes but not for use. Its too flimsy and too flexible for actual hard work. It doesn't have any substance or substance-lessness in all senses of the term, it's more of a cross between flimsy, hollow & cheap than anything. Now I am a little too biased because this was advertised as the product in the image, yet received another model which is pictured as the last photo (second from bottom). The saw on arrival, was coated in paint (like somebody tried to re-paint the packaging), there was a lot of damage on the metal casing (like somebody previously attempted to remove bits) and had that weak grill-thing around the handle (which again I am a bit biased against due to experience, I had an axe with that kind of thing on once). I had the sagevice the handle with an axe to remove the bar from it (and it's fine), and the whole handle needed removing with a flat blade as the rivets holding it together were in way to much of a bind to get undone. Also the bit has quite poor sharpness, the cuts were poor, ragged and uneven. With use of stone and sharpening stick, its ok now, but the whole cutting surface (including the ragged & irregular teeth that appear after the first cut is about as hard as soft sand paper, it gets chipped away really quickly when you're actually trying to cut anything. It will cut, just really slowly. Now, that aside it works, the tension on the pull wire that pulls the bar through (as well as the one that keeps it taught and locked) can be loosened with your fingers and by twisting your hand, which can then have the pull side twisted through 180deg or so. You can thus put the saw back into it's stowed state by cutting through the wire, then when your sawed through that (and as such the bar is loose), you simply push the end down and it pulls through. This method is not too reliable, but is more comfortable than tying a string around the handle. Also it can be tw

This thing is perfect to put in a backpack or car. I bought it to go on hikes, it has a built in sharpener and cuts very well, easy to use.
