Ontario RAT-7 Field Knife

The RAT-7 from Ontario Knife Company is a full-size fixed blade built for camp chores, bushcraft and general field use, the kind of work where a folding knife runs out of strength. It pairs a wide, black-coated drop point blade with bolted tan handle scales and comes with a black nylon sheath that has a front accessory pocket. Blade, Handle And Sheath

The blade is stamped with the RAT-7 model mark just ahead of the handle, and its steel runs back through the grip as a tang, the extension of the blade that the scales are screwed onto. The handle swells at the palm and narrows at the guard, so it locks into the hand for chopping and batoning (splitting wood by striking the spine). The sheath is stitched black nylon with two metal grommets at the tip, which let water drain out and give you a point to lash it to a pack or leg.
