Orange Mini Shovel with Pick

Folding Steel Mini Shovel

The Rothco Orange Mini Shovel with Pick is a compact folding digging tool for campers, hikers, overlanders and anyone building a vehicle or bug-out kit. It handles fire pits, latrine holes, drainage trenches around a tent and digging a tire out of soft ground, then folds down small enough to ride on a belt or in a pack. The bright orange finish makes it easy to spot if you set it down in leaves, grass or snow.

Features

• Steel Construction — The blade, pick and shaft are steel with an orange painted finish.
• 17 In. Open, 10 In. Folded — It extends to 17 inches (about 43 cm) for digging and folds to 10 inches (about 25 cm) for storage.
• Folding Blade With Locking Collar — A threaded collar on the shaft screws down to hold the blade in position, and you loosen it to fold the head back against the handle.
• Integrated Pick — A pointed pick folds out from the head to break up packed soil, roots and frozen ground before you shovel.
• Pointed Spade Blade — The tapered tip cuts into the ground more easily than a square-edged blade.
• Ribbed Rubber Grip — The black handle has raised ribs and a flared end cap so your hand stays put when it is wet or muddy.
• High-Visibility Orange — The color stands out on the ground and in a crowded vehicle or gear bin.
• Olive Drab Carry Cover — A fitted fabric sheath with snap closures and edge binding covers the folded blade to protect your other gear.
• Belt Loop On The Cover — A sewn webbing loop on the back lets you slide the cover onto a belt or pack strap.

Build And Carry

Rothco built this shovel as an all-steel tool with a rubber-covered handle, and the hinge is riveted to the blade. When folded, the blade sits flush against the shaft and slides into the olive drab cover, which closes with a snap flap at the bottom and has snap tabs at the top corners. At 10 inches folded, it fits a daypack side pocket, a glovebox or the trunk of a car.
