30-06 Blank Cartridges

PPU 30-06 Springfield blanks give you the report and muzzle flash of a full-power rifle cartridge without a projectile. They are loaded for honor guard salutes, historical reenactment, stage and film work, and training with 30-06 rifles. Each box holds 15 rounds in brass cases headstamped PPU 30-06 SPRG.

Features

30-06 Springfield Chambering — Sized for rifles chambered in 30-06, the long-serving American military and hunting cartridge.
Blank Load — A blank contains powder and a primer but no bullet, so it produces noise and flash for ceremonies and training.
Crimped Rosette Mouth — The case neck is folded closed in a star-shaped crimp instead of holding a bullet, which keeps the powder sealed inside.
Red Lacquer Seal — Red sealant over the crimp guards against moisture and makes a blank easy to tell apart from live ammunition at a glance.
Brass Case — Full-length brass cases keep the standard 30-06 shape for normal chambering and extraction.
PPU Headstamp — The case head is stamped PPU 30-06 SPRG for clear identification of maker and caliber.
15-Round Box — Packed 15 to a white card box marked with the caliber and lot number PPU 1901.
Printed Safety Warning — The box label states the load is dangerous for shooting up to 20 meters, a reminder that blanks are not harmless.

Using Blanks Safely

A blank still sends hot gas, burning powder and crimp fragments out of the muzzle, and PPU rates this load as dangerous out to 20 meters (about 65 feet). Never point a rifle loaded with blanks at a person, and keep a clear zone in front of the muzzle. Semi-automatic rifles such as the M1 Garand generally need a blank-firing adaptor to cycle with blanks; without one, expect to operate the action by hand.
