surprisingly capableRun a 1980s Romanian People's Army impression for living history events. Needed the correct pack to complete the kit, expected display-only quality given the low price. Was shocked at how functional this actually is. Mine is 1982 dated with unit stamps, leather in excellent condition, canvas strong with no rot. The Y-strap closure is period-correct and actually works well once you learn the technique. The pack carries the correct Romanian load blanket roll, mess kit, canteen, spare clothing comfortably for day events. Used it for a three-day bushcamp to test functionality. The canvas softens with use and carries better than expected. The external pockets keep essentials accessible without opening the main compartment. The simple design means nothing to break no zippers, no plastic buckles, no foam to degrade. After the trip, it's become my "character" pack for casual camping the Eastern Bloc aesthetic gets comments at every campsite, and the durability means I don't worry about abuse. For $40, it's both authentic kit and practical gear.
