This is a USGI aircrew cold weather jacket liner, the quilted insulating layer issued to go under an outer shell when temperatures drop. USGI means government issue, made for US forces rather than for the commercial market. It adds warmth without bulk under a field or flight jacket, and it is light enough to wear on its own as a jacket around camp, the range or town.
