This United Defense gas tube is for AR-15 rifles built on a mid-length gas system. That is the setup where the gas port sits partway down the barrel, between the shorter carbine and longer rifle positions. Use it to finish a new mid-length upper or to replace a tube that is bent, pitted or fouled beyond cleaning. Fit And Installation

Gas tube length has to match the gas system, so check that your barrel and gas block are mid-length before ordering. A mid-length tube will not work on a carbine or rifle-length barrel. During installation, slide the rear end through the upper receiver so it seats into the bolt carrier key. Then pin the front end into the gas block through the cross hole.
