M1 Carbine Muzzle Brake
This United Defense muzzle brake fits on the end of an M1 Carbine barrel. A muzzle brake turns some of the propellant gas sideways and upward as it leaves the bore, which cuts felt recoil and keeps the muzzle from climbing between shots. It suits carbine owners who want faster follow-up shots, and collectors building a period-styled rifle, since the body is marked CHECK RECOIL, M1.
Features
- Hinged Clamp Mount — A hinged collar wraps around the barrel and closes on a pin, so the brake mounts without threading onto the muzzle.
- Wing-Nut Tightening Screw — A threaded screw with a wing nut draws the clamp tight by hand.
- Vented Front Section — Slotted ports at the forward end let gas escape sideways before it reaches the exit.
- Open-Top Gas Cut — A scooped opening along the top of the tube vents gas upward, which pushes the muzzle down against climb.
- CHECK RECOIL, M1 Marking — The side of the tube carries a stamped CHECK RECOIL, M1 legend.
- Matte Black Finish — An even, low-glare black finish matches the dark metal of a typical M1 Carbine.
- Purpose-Built For The M1 Carbine — United Defense sized and shaped the clamp and tube for the M1 Carbine barrel rather than as a universal brake.
Fit And Installation
The rear collar opens on its hinge, closes around the barrel, and the wing-nut screw clamps it in place, so you can fit or remove the brake by hand. The tube runs forward past the muzzle, with the open-top cut directly ahead of the clamp and the slotted ports near the end. Check that the brake is tight and aligned with the bore before firing.

Works Good on My M1 CarbineTook my carbine out for a quick range session with this brake installed and it cut down on the climb pretty nice. Ran about 150 rounds and it felt more steady than stock. Install was straight forward with no issues. Customer service answered my fit question real quick.

second one Ive bought works greatNot gonna lie this is my second one because the first did exactly what its supposed to on my shop carbine. Slip fit went right on the barrel no gunsmithing and the twin top ports keep the muzzle flat during rapid strings. Anybody running an M2 on select fire should grab one.

Reliable clone of the real dealPicked this up for my Inland rebuild and it looks right at home. Fit was pretty good out of the box, just needed a tiny bit of fitting on the bayo lug area. Noticeably tames the muzzle flip compared to the naked barrel. Ran about 200 rounds of .30 carbine through it at the range last weekend and zero shift was basically none.

Fits perfect, reduces recoilThe muzzle brake snapped right on and cut the kick down nice. It feels solid and doesn't wobble at all. Only thing is it's a tad louder, but I think that's worth the trade for the recoil reduction.
