M1 Carbine Oiler

This is a reproduction oiler made by United Defense in the pattern of the original M1 Carbine oiler. It is a small metal tube that holds gun oil, with a screw cap that carries a built-in applicator rod. On the M1 Carbine the oiler sits in the slot through the buttstock, where it also anchors the sling, so you have lubricant on the rifle whenever you carry it. Collectors use it to complete a carbine, and shooters use it as a working oil bottle at the range or in the field.

Features

• Original M1 Carbine Pattern — The slim tubular body follows the shape of the oiler that rides in the carbine's buttstock slot.
• Metal Body — The tube is metal with a dark gray matte finish that matches the look of the carbine's other small parts.
• Knurled Screw Cap — A finely cross-hatched rim gives your fingers grip to open and close the cap, even with oily hands.
• Threaded Closure — The cap screws into internal threads at the mouth of the tube, so it stays put while the rifle is carried.
• Attached Dauber Rod — A thin metal rod fixed to the underside of the cap dips into the oil and lets you place a drop exactly where it is needed.
• Inner Seal Washer — A reddish washer with a center hole sits in the tube mouth to meter the oil and wipe excess off the rod as you withdraw it.
• Doubles As Sling Anchor — Fitted in the stock slot, the oiler passes through the sling loop and holds the sling in place, as on the original rifle.

Build and Fit

This oiler is a new commercial part from United Defense, not military surplus. It has two pieces: the tube and a cap with its dauber rod, which comes out as one unit when you unscrew it. Fill the tube with your preferred gun oil, thread the cap back in, and slide the oiler into the carbine's buttstock slot through the sling loop.
