M14 National Match Sight
This is a complete National Match rear sight assembly for the M14 rifle, made by United Defense. National Match is the designation for the competition-grade versions of service rifle parts, built for shooters who want finer aiming than the standard issue sight gives. It suits rebuilds, upgrades from a standard rear sight, and anyone replacing a worn or damaged assembly on an M14-pattern rifle.
Features
- NM-Marked Aperture — The peep aperture, the small hole you look through to line up the front sight, is stamped NM and drilled with a fine pinhole for precise sight alignment.
- Checkered Aperture Face — The rear face of the aperture disc is finely checkered to cut down light reflecting back toward your eye.
- Protective Sight Ears — Raised ears on either side, marked NM/2A, guard the aperture against knocks when the rifle is handled or cased.
- Graduated Elevation Knob — A knurled knob with numbered markings raises and lowers the aperture, and the numbers let you note a setting and return to it.
- Marked Windage Knob — The opposite knob moves the aperture left and right, and its face is marked LEFT with arrows so the direction of adjustment is clear.
- Screw-Retained Knob — A center screw holds the windage knob in place on its shaft.
- Curved Sight Base — The assembly includes the curved base that carries the aperture and seats the sight on the receiver.
- Black Finish — All visible parts carry a uniform black finish to match a blued or parkerized rifle.
Build And Markings
The assembly arrives together: aperture, base, both ears and both adjustment knobs, so there is no need to source parts separately. Both knobs are knurled for grip, with markings stamped directly into the metal. The NM and NM/2A markings identify it as a National Match pattern sight, and it is a commercially manufactured part rather than military surplus.

Fits tight, shoots tighterDropped this on my M1A between customers at the shop, base fit the dovetail with no issues. The 1/2 MOA clicks are half what the old GI sight gave me, so I can actually dial in at 200.

Perfect for precision shootingMy husband put this National Match assembly on his M14 and took it out yesterday. The 1/2 MOA adjustments are spot on for windage at the range. Really happy with the upgrade overall.

Finally Found a Decent NM SightBeen running my M1A for about 12 years and finally decided to upgrade to a proper NM rear sight. Fit was spot on, no slop, clicks are crisp and repeatable. Put about 400 rounds through it at the range last weekend doing some slow fire at 200yds and it tracked perfectly every time. This thing is exactly what a national match build deserves.

Finally, a match sight that doesn't cost $400Shooting CMP matches with my M1A and been limping along with the standard sight. Looked at the Warner and Smith Enterprise options and couldn't justify the price for my skill level. Found this and took a chance. Pleasantly surprised the click adjustments are consistent, the aperture is clean and round, the hood works for my eyes. My gunsmith said it was an easy fit on my Springfield receiver, minimal work. The 1/2 MOA elevation is the game changer for me. I can dial for 100, 200, 300 yards and actually hit what I'm aiming at. Before I was guessing with holdover. Windage is fine enough to correct for breeze without overcorrecting. Finish is holding up, no rust, adjustments still crisp. For the price difference vs the big names I'm very happy. Maybe the $400 sights are better, but this is good enough for my Master classification goals.

Night and day difference over the standard sightIf your shooting an M1A with the standard GI rear sight and wondering why your groups look like a shotgun pattern, this is your fix. The NM rear sight has noticeably crisper clicks on both windage and elevation and the aperture is tighter which forces better sight picture discipline. Swapped this onto my Springfield Loaded in about 15 minutes its a complete assembly so you just drift out the old one and drop this in. Took it to a 200 yard reduced CMP match the following weekend and cleaned up. The all steel construction with the blued finish matches the receiver perfectly too, looks like it came from the factory. Should have done this upgrade years ago.
