Weaver Remington 597 Scope Mount Base

The Weaver rail mount system is a system devised by William Ralph Weaver of W.R. Weaver Co. designed to aid in the mounting of telescopic sights, optics and other firearm accessories to pistols, rifles, shotguns and more. The system utilizes a pair of parallel-running rails alongside numerous slots that run perpendicular to these rails. In the Weaver system, these slots are used primarily for clearance of the locking screw that tightens the clamp of a Weaver ring or accessory to the rail.
