Description
The Weaver rail mount system is a system devised by William Ralph Weaver of W.R. Weaver Co. designed to aid in the mounting of telescopic sights, optics and other firearm accessories to pistols, rifles, shotguns and more. The system utilizes a pair of parallel-running rails alongside numerous slots that run perpendicular to these rails. In the Weaver system, these slots are used primarily for clearance of the locking screw that tightens the clamp of a Weaver ring or accessory to the rail.
The Weaver Remington 597 scope mount base is a versatile, multi-slot base from Weaver Optics. Each base is constructed from a tough, lightweight aluminum alloy that is built to withstand the powerful recoil characteristic of many of the rifles most shooters favor. <span>Good news: this rail fits the receiver, its easy to mount, scaled to the rifle.<br>Bad news: any rail mounted accessories with a MILSPEC recoil lug they will not fit.<br>MILSPEC is 0.193" Slots are 0.155" too narrow<br>My bad for not reading the fine print and not educating myself.<br>This is a Weaver rail NOT a Picatinny rail.</span>

<span>Installed easy as advertised. I added a drop of blue locktite and the screws haven't moved. It looks nice, and as an added bonus it fit my red dot sight which uses a picatinny mount. It looks like it would fit most of my picatinny accessories that use a narrower diameter screw, though not all. A good cheap buy that fits well, bluing/paint matches the receiver, and fits more optics than advertised.</span>
