Description
AR-15 Bolt Extractor
The extractor is the small hooked lever on the side of an AR-15 bolt that pulls each spent case out of the chamber after firing. A chipped claw or worn edge causes failures to extract, where an empty case stays stuck in the chamber and stops the rifle. This United Defense extractor is a direct replacement part for shooters and home builders who are repairing a bolt, refreshing a high-round-count rifle or keeping a spare in the range bag.
Features
- Hooked Extraction Claw — The raised hook at the front end grips the rim of the cartridge case so the bolt can drag it rearward out of the chamber.
- Cross-Drilled Pivot Lug — A lug under the body carries the hole for the extractor pin, the small pin the extractor rocks on inside the bolt.
- Extractor Spring Pocket — A round recess at the rear end seats the extractor spring, which presses the tail outward and keeps the claw clamped on the case rim.
- Dark Matte Finish — The part has an even gray-black matte finish across the body and claw.
- Stamped Part Marking — A visible "T9" stamp on the flat face identifies the part.
- AR-15 Pattern Profile — The shape follows the standard AR-15 extractor layout, with claw, pivot lug and spring pocket in the familiar positions.
- Single Replacement Part — Pictured as the extractor alone, with no spring, insert or pin shown, so you can reuse good parts from your existing bolt.
Fit And Installation
The extractor installs in the slot on the side of an AR-15 bolt, held by the extractor pin through the pivot lug, with the spring seated in the rear pocket. Changing it takes a punch and a few minutes once the bolt is out of the carrier. Check the fit and function after installation, and have a qualified gunsmith look over the bolt if you are unsure about headspace or extraction problems.
