Romanian Army Mess Kit

Romanian Issue Mess Kit

This is the two-piece aluminum mess kit issued to Romanian Army soldiers: a deep cook pot plus a lid that works as a separate pan. A soldier could boil water or heat rations in the pot over a fire and eat from the lid. It nests into one compact unit for a pack, so it suits campers, bushcrafters, preppers and collectors of Eastern European field gear.

Features

• Aluminum Construction — The pot and lid are pressed from aluminum, which is light to carry and heats up quickly over a stove or fire.
• Kidney-Shaped Body — One side curves inward so the kit sits flatter against a pack or hip and takes up less room than a round pot.
• Lid Doubles As A Pan — The deep lid comes off as its own vessel, giving you a shallow pan or plate alongside the main pot.
• Folding Lid Handle — A hinged steel handle is riveted to the lid, swinging out to hold the pan and folding back down the side of the pot when packed.
• Wire Bail Handle — A bail, the hinged wire loop riveted to each side of the pot, lets you carry it or hang it over a fire.
• OD Green Painted Exterior — The outside is finished in OD green, short for olive drab, the standard military field color.
• Bare Aluminum Interior — The inside of the pot is left as unpainted aluminum.
• Nesting Two-Piece Design — The lid seats over the rim of the pot so both pieces travel as a single closed unit.

Original Army Issue

This kit was made for and issued by the Romanian Army, so it is authentic government field equipment and not a commercial camping copy. The riveted fittings, steel hinge and painted aluminum body follow the original military pattern. Reenactors and collectors get a correct piece of Romanian kit, and outdoor users get a simple cook set designed around a soldier's daily rations.
