Ka-Bar Warthog Fixed Blade
The Ka-Bar Warthog is a large fixed blade knife built for outdoor work: cutting, slicing and chopping around camp, on the trail or out on the hunt. A fixed blade has no hinge or lock to wear out, so it takes heavy use better than a folder. With a 6.75-inch blade, a quarter-inch spine and a weight just over a pound, it suits anyone who wants one knife that can handle both fine cuts and hard batoning-style chores.

- 1085 High Carbon Steel — The blade is 1085 carbon steel hardened to 52-54 HRc, a fairly soft and tough temper that resists chipping and is easy to touch up in the field.
- Clip-Point Blade — The spine dips down toward the tip, giving a finer, more controllable point for detail work on a blade this broad.
- 6.75-Inch Blade Length — The blade runs 6.75 in (17.1 cm) on a 12.25 in (31.1 cm) overall length, with a width of about 2.44 in.
- Quarter-Inch Thick Stock — At 0.25 in thick, the blade carries enough mass to chop wood and stand up to prying loads a thinner knife would not.
- Hollow Grind Edge — The bevels are ground with a slight concave curve, which thins the edge for cleaner slicing.
- Kraton G Handle — The black handle is Kraton G, a thermoplastic rubber that stays grippy when wet or cold, with deep rings molded along its length.
- Integral Guard And Hooked Pommel — A guard at the front and a curved hook at the butt keep your hand from sliding onto the blade or off the end during hard chopping.
- Lanyard Hole — A metal-lined hole through the pommel takes a cord so you can tie the knife to your wrist or your gear.
- Nylon Sheath With Two Snaps — The included black sheath has a rigid tip guard and two snap straps, one over the handle and one across the body, to keep the knife seated.
Steel, Handle And Sheath
Ka-Bar pairs a black-finished 1085 carbon blade with a molded Kraton G grip, so the knife is all business and has no wood or leather scales to swell or crack. The blade is marked KA-BAR near the guard. At 1.05 lb (about 476 g), it is a heavy knife for its length, and that weight goes into chopping power. Carbon steel will rust if left wet, so wipe it down and keep a light coat of oil on it after use.

Underrated Workhorse, Dont Sleep On ItI was kinda skeptical when I saw it was made in Taiwan but honestly after using it for a few months I have zero complaints about the quality, Ka-Bar clearly still put their standards into this thing. I use it mainly for camp tasks like feathersticking and batoning smaller logs and it handles both better than knives that cost twice as much. The deep recurve on the blade is what sets it apart, gives you a ton of usable cutting surface and makes it feel like you have more knife than you're actually holding. Only thing id say is the handle is pretty large so if you got smaller hands it might feel like a lot at first but you adjust. For a fixed blade that does it all this is honestly hard to beat.

K-bar warthogOne heck of a knife! You can cut tent stakes with it then pound them in the ground with it. Splitting firewood (batoning) would be a snap! The thickness of the blade is unreal, and the handle is perfect. Great knife.

Warthog does it all.I bought the warthog at the same time I ordered an Ontario Rat-7. I watched several videos showing how the Rat-7 performed, and the warthog performed better or better at these same tasks. It has a well-designed handle that is very comfortable in hand and eliminates hand fatigue when used for extended periods. The large blade shape is unusual, but this blade works well for campsite and bushcrafting.
