The Rothco Stainless Steel Folding Stove gives you a small, stable firebox and cooking surface that packs down to the thickness of a paperback. It is built around solid fuel tablets, the compressed fuel cubes that light easily and burn without a liquid fuel bottle or canister. Campers, hikers and anyone putting together a survival or bug-out kit can carry it to heat a meal or a cup of water away from the kitchen.

• Stainless Steel Construction — The body, grill and hinges are stainless steel, which resists rust after a night of dew or a quick rinse.
• Folds Flat To 1.5 Inches — Hinged side panels collapse so the stove packs down to 8.25 x 5.5 x 1.5 inches (about 21 x 14 x 3.8 cm).
• 5.5-Inch Cooking Area — Set up, the stove stands 8.25 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches, with a top big enough for a sausage, a small pot or a canteen cup.
• Removable Mesh Grill Plate — A woven wire grill with fold-down wire handles sits on top for cooking directly over the flame and lifts off for cleaning.
• Ash Pan — A tray beneath the firebox catches ash and spent fuel so it does not drop onto the ground or table.
• Solid Fuel Tablet Design — The firebox and internal grate are sized for fuel tablets, which keep the fuel off the stove floor so air can reach it.
• Vented Side Panels — Rows of holes near the base of each side panel draw in air to keep the fire burning.
• Front Access Door — A hinged front panel with a ring pull opens the firebox for adding fuel without lifting the grill.

Build And Packing

This is a three-piece system: the steel stove base, the removable grill plate and the ash pan. A wire handle on the front panel gives you a grip when moving the stove. The whole kit weighs about 2 pounds (0.9 kg), and once folded it slides into its case and fits flat in a pack, truck box or vehicle emergency kit. Rothco makes it as commercial gear. It is not government-issue surplus.
