CCI Ammunition
Authorized Dealer • Lewiston, Idaho Since 1951
CCI — Cascade Cartridge, Inc. — has been the dominant American rimfire manufacturer since Dick Speer founded the company in Lewiston, Idaho in 1951. CCI started as a primer maker for handloaders and grew into the rimfire specialist that produces Mini-Mag, Stinger, Quiet-22, Standard Velocity, and the economy-priced Blazer aluminum-case centerfire alongside their iconic .22 LR catalog. Now part of Vista Outdoor with sister brands Federal and Speer, CCI's Lewiston plant is the largest dedicated rimfire production facility in the United States. Keep Shooting carries .22 LR across the velocity range, .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 WMR, plus 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP shotshells for pest control.
About CCI Ammunition
CCI — Cascade Cartridge, Inc. — was founded in 1951 by Richard “Dick” Speer in Lewiston, Idaho, and grew from a small primer manufacturer for handloaders into the dominant American rimfire ammunition producer. Today the Lewiston plant is the largest dedicated rimfire facility in the United States, and CCI sits alongside Federal and Speer in the Vista Outdoor portfolio. Keep Shooting stocks CCI's full rimfire lineup — .22 LR, .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 WMR — plus the Blazer centerfire line and CCI's unique pistol shotshells for snake and rodent control.
.22 LR — The Heart of the CCI Catalog
CCI builds more .22 Long Rifle than any other American manufacturer, and they cover every velocity tier the rimfire shooter actually needs. Mini-Mag is the iconic copper-plated 36-grain hollow point or 40-grain solid that has been the workhorse high-velocity load since 1963 — we carry the Mini-Mag .22 LR for plinking, small-game hunting, and reliable cycling in semi-auto rimfires that occasionally choke on standard-velocity. Standard Velocity at ~1070 fps is the target shooter's benchmark — lower velocity means tighter groups for serious bullseye and bench-rest work. The Blazer .22 LR is the volume bulk-pack choice, the same workhorse 40-grain copper-plated round-nose at the lowest per-round price in our catalog.
Quiet-22 & Subsonic — Suppressor & Backyard
CCI's Quiet-22 line is built around a 40-grain lead round-nose driven to only ~710 fps — well below the speed of sound (~1125 fps). The result is a report roughly 75% quieter than standard-velocity .22 LR, with no supersonic crack, making it possibly the quietest factory rimfire ammunition you can buy without a suppressor. Two flavors: the standard Quiet-22 LRN for paper-target backyard shooting where minimal noise is the priority, and the Quiet-22 Segmented HP which retains the same low-decibel velocity profile but adds a deliberate-fragmentation bullet that splits into three pieces on impact for small-game and pest control. For shooters who need slightly more terminal performance at full subsonic velocity (nominally 1050 fps), the CCI Subsonic Hollow Point and the standalone Segmented Hollow Point load are the suppressor-host shooters' picks. Both are subsonic, both run cleaner than Mini-Mag in suppressed bores, and both expand reliably on small-game-sized targets.
Specialty Rimfire — .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 WMR
Beyond .22 LR, CCI is one of the few American manufacturers still producing the older rimfire cartridges that target shooters and gallery shooters depend on. The .22 Short Hollow Point feeds vintage gallery rifles and Olympic-style rapid-fire pistols, while the .22 Short Noise Blanks cover starting-pistol and dog-training applications. The .22 Long High Velocity is increasingly rare on the American market and is mostly bought today by collectors with century-old rimfire rifles chambered for the intermediate rimfire cartridge between .22 Short and .22 LR. The .22 WMR #12 shot is a pest-control loading — a tiny shot capsule in a Magnum-pressure rimfire case for snake, mouse, and pest dispatch at very close range from a .22 Magnum revolver or rifle.
Blazer Centerfire & Pistol Shotshells
The CCI Blazer family covers the centerfire economy market. Original-spec Blazer uses an aluminum case (non-reloadable but cheaper to produce); Blazer Brass upgrades to brass cases that handloaders can reload. We carry the Blazer Brass 9mm for range training and the Blazer .40 S&W FMJ in 50-round boxes. Cross-shop these alongside Federal American Eagle, PMC Bronze, and Sellier & Bellot in the target-shooting handgun ammo category for direct price comparison.
CCI is also the dominant producer of centerfire pistol shotshells, a niche-but-essential product for snake-country carry, garden pest control, and rural-property rodent dispatch. Each shotshell loads tiny #9 or #12 birdshot in a plastic capsule that splits at the muzzle, throwing a wide pattern at very close range with no expansion or over-penetration risk. We carry both the .40 S&W shotshells and the .45 ACP shotshells for handgun owners who want a snake or rodent load that won't cycle the slide reliably (these are single-shot loadings — manually rack the next round) but works for the intended close-range pest application.
Why CCI
For rimfire shooters, CCI is the default. The Lewiston plant produces millions of rounds a day, the company has been priming centerfire and rimfire cartridges since 1951, and the manufacturing tolerances on .22 LR specifically are tighter than anything else available at the retail price band. Match shooters use CCI Standard Velocity for serious bullseye work, small-game hunters use Mini-Mag, suppressor owners use Quiet-22 and Subsonic HP, and the rest of the .22 LR market falls back to Blazer bulk packs for sheer volume. Browse our complete .22 LR landing for CCI alongside Aguila, Winchester, and Remington for direct cross-comparison, and see the broader ammunition catalog for centerfire alternatives.
