This is an original U.S. government issue (USGI) handguard for the M14 rifle, the upper cover that sits over the barrel and protects your support hand from heat. It is the solid, late-pattern fiberglass version, removed from demilled U.S. M14 service rifles. Owners of M14 and M1A rifles use it as a correct replacement part, and collectors and builders use it to keep a rifle true to its service configuration.

Service Rifle Origins

The M14 was the U.S. Army's 7.62x51mm NATO service rifle, and its handguards started out in wood before fiberglass took over. The solid fiberglass pattern became the standard fitted during arsenal overhaul, so this is the handguard many late-service rifles carried. Because it came off issued rifles, it suits anyone restoring an M14 or M1A to correct government specification.
