TekMat
Authorized Dealer • Made in Texas
TekMat invented the firearm-specific gun cleaning mat — the neoprene-backed work surface with the full exploded parts diagram of your specific pistol or rifle dye-sublimation printed directly into the cleaning surface. From the Glock 3D Cutaway to dedicated mats for the SIG P226 / P229 / P320, Beretta 92, Springfield XD, Browning Hi-Power, Ruger Mark IV, AR-15, M1 Garand, M14/M1A, M1 Carbine, FN FAL, SKS, 1911, and Remington 870 — every TekMat in our catalog turns your bench into a solvent-resistant, scratch-protective, schematic-on-the-table workspace for cleaning, takedown, and reassembly.
About TekMat
TekMat invented an entire product category — the firearm-specific gun cleaning mat with the full exploded parts diagram of a single pistol, rifle, or shotgun dye-sublimation printed directly into the cleaning surface. The company started on a dining-room table when founder Dan was cleaning his AR-15 on a kitchen towel, his wife had finally had enough, and the "official" gun mat she bought as a replacement turned out to be cheaply made, stained instantly, slid around on the table, and shed lint fibers into the greased parts of the rifle. Dan's response was to design a better one — a soft thermoplastic fiber surface bonded to a neoprene rubber substrate, with a printed exploded diagram of the actual firearm being cleaned so the owner could disassemble and reassemble the gun without ever opening the manual. That idea became TekMat, and TekMat is now the leading commercial-grade gun cleaning mat company in the world, manufactured in Texas under the GSM Outdoors family of brands.
TekMat construction is the reason serious shooters keep buying them after trying cheaper alternatives. The top surface is a stain-resistant thermoplastic fiber chosen for two specific properties: it does not shed lint into oiled or greased gun parts the way cotton towels and cheap polyester mats do, and the texture is soft enough that a polished slide or a high-finish hunting rifle can sit on it without picking up scratches or marring from grit on the workbench. The bottom surface is a thick neoprene rubber substrate — the same material used in wetsuits and laptop sleeves — which provides dense cushioning to protect the firearm and the workbench underneath, a non-slip grip that keeps the mat anchored on a smooth bench, and chemical resistance to the solvents, oils, and CLP products that get spilled during a cleaning session. The exploded diagram is dye-sublimation printed, meaning the ink is bonded into the fiber surface rather than sitting on top of it as a screen-printed coating — so the diagram does not crack, peel, or rub off no matter how many cleaning sessions the mat sees.
The schematic is what separates a TekMat from every other rubber mat on the market. TekMat was the first company to print full firearm-specific exploded parts diagrams directly onto cleaning mats, and that innovation eliminated the need to keep an owner's manual or a printed schematic open beside the bench during disassembly. When you take a Glock down to its slide, recoil spring assembly, barrel, and frame components, every one of those parts can be laid directly on its labeled position on the printed diagram — and when it comes time to reassemble, the sequence is right there in front of you. For shooters learning a new platform, for instructors teaching armorer courses, and for anyone who has ever forgotten the orientation of a Glock locking block during reassembly at midnight, the printed schematic is the feature that justifies the price difference over a plain rubber mat.
Modern TekMat is part of the GSM Outdoors family of outdoor and shooting sports brands, and in 2020 the company moved its production from overseas back to Texas — every TekMat sold today is now manufactured in the United States, with product design based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. The current catalog covers over 70 firearm-specific designs across two main sizes: the Original TekMat at 11" × 17" for pistol cleaning sessions, and the Ultra Mat at twice the thickness and roughly 15" × 20" or 15" × 44" depending on the model, sized for long-gun work where you need the entire receiver, barrel, and stock laid out at once. The TekMat lineup also includes universal mats, gun cleaning kits, microfiber TekTowels, coasters, posters, and the same printed-schematic technology applied to door mats and work mats.

The M1 Garand TekMat displays the John C. Garand original .30-06 service rifle of WWII and Korea, and the M14/M1A TekMat covers the Garand's 7.62×51mm NATO successor (still produced as the Springfield M1A commercial rifle). The M1 Carbine TekMat covers the WWII paratrooper carbine, the FN FAL TekMat covers the "Right Arm of the Free World" Belgian battle rifle, and the SKS TekMat covers the Soviet semi-auto rifle that filled the Soviet inventory between the Mosin and the AK.
